The historic campus of Stuart Hall School is a cornerstone of the Staunton community. So, when the school’s existing roof system reached the end of its service life, it wasn’t just about replacing old materials—it was about ensuring the safety and comfort of students and staff for years to come.
The Challenge
Stuart Hall’s coated EPDM membrane was failing, and the underlying wet wood fiberboard had compromised the roof’s integrity. Persistent leaks and deteriorating materials threatened both the integrity of the building and the daily routines and learning experiences of everyone inside. The school needed a roofing solution that would deliver lasting durability, energy efficiency, and seamless protection for its historic campus.
The Solution

We removed all existing roofing materials down to the deck, eliminating everything damaged and no longer performing its job.
We installed new insulation that directs water flow for optimal drainage and significantly improves energy efficiency, creating a strong foundation for a high-performance roof.
Our team installed a fully adhered 60 mil white TPO membrane, built to withstand harsh weather and reflect sunlight—keeping the building cooler and lowering energy costs.
Sealed every wall and edge, installed new metal trim along the roofline, and rehung the school’s classic copper gutters with brand-new hardware to preserve the building’s historic character.
