Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church

Grottoes, VA | SF: 23,600 | General Contractor: Skyline Roofing

At Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church in Grottoes, VA, Skyline Roofing was trusted to complete a full roof reconstruction that combined craftsmanship, durability, and long-term protection. The historic building has grown and evolved through architectural updates, reflecting the changing needs and tastes of the communities it has served.

The Challenge

The old roof required removal, proper disposal, and a sturdy rebuild to withstand long-term exposure and weather. This reconstruction was essential to safeguard the church against the elements for years to come, ensuring reliable performance through changing seasons and harsh conditions.

The Solution

Our team removed the existing metal roof and hauled materials offsite for proper disposal and replaced rotted and damaged decking and added crickets on the up-slope sides of curves to improve drainage. We safeguarded the structure with ice and water shield along eaves and valleys, then installed a high-performance synthetic underlayment.

To complete this project, we added seamless aluminum gutters with downspouts and splash guards at valleys and installed a custom 26 gauge roof panel for the monument sign to match the main structure. We ensured all details followed manufacturer specifications and were backed by a 35-year finish warranty and a 2-year contractor warranty.

The Impact

  • Durability: Strengthened protection against the elements with a durable, weather-resistant roof system.

  • Upgraded Drainage: Reinforced decking with aluminum gutters with downspouts and splash guards guaranteed an improved drainage system.

  • Peace of Mind: High-quality work and comprehensive warranties will last for decades to come.

  • Craftsmanship: A finish that is clean and professional, aligning with the church’s aesthetics and site requirements.
