Bridgewater United Methodist Church

Bridgewater, VA | General Contractor: Skyline Roofing

When Bridgewater United Methodist Church needed roof upgrades across several areas of its campus, Skyline brought a thoughtful approach to the project from start to finish. The work included standing seam metal panels, low slope membrane installation, tower roof assemblies, custom sheet metal, and detailed tie-ins, all designed to deliver reliable protection while maintaining the church's recognizable appearance.

The Impact

No two sections of this roof were the same. Each area required its own installation methods, drainage details, and transition points, making coordination one of the most important parts of the project.

From the metal roof and membrane roof areas to the tower roofs and existing slate tie-ins, every detail had to work together to create one continuous, watertight assembly that blended seamlessly with the existing structure. For the crew, that meant paying close attention to each transition and adapting the installation as they worked across the different sections of the building.

The Solution

We replaced the existing metal roof with a new standing seam metal roof, complete with new underlayment, ice and water protection, upgraded chimney crickets, and careful removal and reinstallation of slate along the perimeter tie-ins.

Skyline upgraded the low slope roof sections with new insulation, tapered cricket work for improved drainage, and fully adhered white TPO membrane installation, along with new flashings, edge metals, custom coping, gutters, and downspouts.

Additional improvements included:

  • New tower roof assemblies featuring high-density cover board, fully adhered TPO membrane, wall flashings, custom box gutters, and downspouts

  • Careful reinstallation of existing slate and asphalt shingles at key transition areas

  • Custom sheet metal fabrication and drainage upgrades throughout the project

The Impact

Skyline designed every component to work together as a complete solution built for long-term performance.

  • Reliable weather protection through new standing seam metal panels and fully adhered TPO membrane assemblies

  • Better drainage with tapered crickets, custom gutters, box gutters, and downspouts

  • Smooth transitions between new roof areas and existing slate and shingle areas for a clean, watertight finish

  • A consistent appearance that complements the church's existing architecture while extending the life of the roof

Projects like this demonstrate that commercial roof work is about more than installing new roof assemblies. It takes planning, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to bring different roof types together into one cohesive aproach and a result that executes as intended.

Skyline is proud to have completed this project for Bridgewater United Methodist Church, delivering long-term protection while maintaining the appearance that has made the church a familiar part of the Bridgewater community for generations.
